Angelique Naval Timber

Highly durable, dense and strong tropical hardwood with interlocking grain and high silica content.

aPPLICATIONS:

Angelique has long been used in high traffic, high demand applications that require strong compressive and tensile strength, such as naval and architectural decking. It is a suitable alternative to Teak.

Purpleheart

  • FAS
The grain is usually straight, but can also be wavy or irregular. Has a medium texture. When freshly cut the heartwood of purpleheart can be a  dull grayish/purplish brown. Upon exposure—usually within a few days—the wood becomes a deeper eggplant purple. With further age and exposure to UV light, the wood becomes a dark brown with a hint of purple. Working with purpleheart can present some challenges. Rot and insect resistant, except marine borers.

Lacewood

  • FAS
Fairly coarse and uneven texture. Has Conspicuous flecking, reddish brown with grey or light brown rays, resulting in a lace pattern when quartersawn. Not rot or insect resistant. Easy to work with, glues, stains, finishes well. May have some difficulty in planning.

Alaskan Yellow Cedar

Straight grain, sometimes wavy, uniform medium to fine texture. Heartwood is light yellow, sapwood whitish/pale yellow. Color darkens with age with exposure to light. High rot and insect resistance.
