Who we serve
Our clients build exceptional things – vessels, homes, and fine objects made to last generations. We make sure the material is worthy of the work.
Shipwrights boat builders
Building hulls, decks, and cabin joinery demands timber that performs in the harshest environment – salt water, sun exposure, structural stress. Compromise on material and you compromise the vessel.
Preferred species: FEQ Burmese Teak, White Oak, Mahogany
Custom
home builders
Exterior cladding, structural timbers, and outdoor structures that face New England winters need species rated for exposure. The material has to outlast the build schedule – by decades.
Preferred species: Ipe, White Oak, Douglas Fir, Teak
Fine carpenters craftsmen
Furniture, cabinetry, and bespoke joinery where every surface is seen and every joint is tested. Grade matters. Consistency of figure and colour across a commission is not negotiable.
Preferred species: FEQ Burmese Teak, White Oak, Mahogany
Our clients know exactly what they need — and why it matters. If you’re still working it out, that’s fine too. Start with a conversation.

Burmese Teak
First-Export Quality · Tectona grandis
Mostly straight grain, resistant to rot and termites. Some resistance to marine borers and powder post beetles. Following the February 2021 military take over of Myanmar, sanctions were placed on imported teak limiting the available stock.

Applications:
Ship/boatbuilding, veneers, furniture, outdoor construction and other small projects. Teak is prized for its durability, and as such is generally reserved for our marine clients.
White Oak
Grain is straight, with a coarse, uneven texture. Heartwood is a light to medium brown, commonly with an olive cast. Paler sapwood is not always sharply demarcated from the heartwood.
American Walnut
Grain is usually straight, but can be irregular. Has a medium texture. Heartwood can range from a lighter pale brown to a dark chocolate brown with darker brown streaks.
Hard Maple
Mostly straight grain, some may have a wavy grain. Fine even texture. The sapwood is used rather than heartwood due to its creamy and even appearance.

Why
America's Wood
Company
We are not a big-box supplier. We are not a commodity operation.
Origin and Procurement
We source selectively – direct relationships, known origins, species we’d stake our name on. If it doesn’t meet the grade, it doesn’t enter the yard.
Sorting Standards
Every piece is graded to FEQ and trade-equivalent standards. We apply the same rigour to every species we carry – not just the headline timber.
Trade Expertise
We understand how this material is used. Custom dimensions, special orders, volume sourcing – we handle it because we’ve seen what the work demands.
How we work
No catalogue browsing, no guessing. Tell us about the build — we’ll find the right material and get it to you.
Breed advice
Tell us your project — shipbuilding, fine joinery, exterior construction. We’ll advise on the right species, grade, and dimensions for the application.
Non-standard sizes
Working with unusual dimensions or specifications outside the standard catalog? We handle custom cuts and special orders on request.
Large-scale procurement
Large project requirements handled directly. We source volume orders with the same selectivity we apply to every board we carry.
Trading accounts
Regular trade accounts welcome. If you’re building consistently, we’d rather know your operation and plan around it.
The Material

From the Trade
