Lacewood

Fairly coarse and uneven texture. Has Conspicuous flecking, reddish brown with grey or light brown rays, resulting in a lace pattern when quartersawn. Not rot or insect resistant. Easy to work with, glues, stains, finishes well. May have some difficulty in planning.

Veneer, cabinetry, fine furniture, musical instruments, turned objects.

Straight grain, fine to medium uniform texture. Pale cream color. Venner is slightly darker. Good workability, machines, finishes and glues well. Also good for steam bending. Can have a lot of movement.

Generally straight grain, some have curly grain patterns, Heartwood is light pinkish brown when cut, then darkens with time and exposure to light. Sapwood is pale yellowish color. Common for most to have some sapwood along the outer edges. Durable and resistant to rot, however not generally used in exterior applications. Machines well. Some issues when staining.

Grain can be straight, interlocked, or wavy, ranges from moderately durable to very durable in rot resistance. Some resistance to insects.
